January 2002 Newsletter Writer's Universe This is the first full month that Writer's Universe has been in operation. Here is a quick review of what we have done: December 30th - January 5th: We set up the basic website design. We also made Writer's Universe a membership organization where our users had to sign up to use our services. January 6th - January 12th: Finished the design, published to the web. Decided to make Writer's Universe a "form free" site where our users wouldn't have to become "members." In the near future: We hope to improve the design, especially the design of our "Interactive Story." We are hoping to get many more users, make our presence known. We also hope to recieve more visitor feedback. In the distant future: Get a domain name. What members can do: We just set up our "Interactive Story." An interactive story is where you are the character and you decide your own fate. You can read what we have started on the interactive story, and then you can submit an episode that will be added in. You can also submit work and enter our contests. Members Work: Here is a poem written by Matt: Teenage Depression Another day falls through the cracks For what should tomorrow come The need to do something, anything Feelings of a friendship once known Purpose is a word once used The importance of completion escaping Why try when they will only push down Beyond all reason, where is a meaning Searching for a reason A lust for control and power Anything with a purpose, everything without A pause to take another breathe It is never good enough... Useless, yes, of course The darkness of it all, surrounding What has happened here Trouble heading down the road Who can make sense of this confusion From where is this path leading An answer is of no help The oppressor is beyond the door |
