3 tips for better writing

1. Be your self:

Don't overuse flowery language, it will make your writing sound phony

2. Write with authority:

Don't sound like you don't know what you're talking about and leave out phrases such as "you know"

3. Don't rush the writing process:

Give yourself a few days to rest after writing your rough draft before entering the revising stage

Does your writing seem plain and monotonous? If you employ a few of these writing techniques, your writing will become fuller and more lively.

Allusion:
This is a reference to a familiar person, place, thing, or event.

Analogy:
A comparison of ideas or objects that are completely different but that are alike in one important way.

Antithesis:
Use opposing ideas in the same thought or sentence to emphasize a point

Exaggeration:
Overstating something or stretching the truth to emphasize a point. Ex: I was so hungry I could eat a cow

Flashback:
This technique involves interrupting a story to go back in time and explain an earlier time or event to make the story more clear.

Foreshadowing:
This is leaving hints or clues in your story that suggest what will happen later on in the story.

Irony:
This is an expression where you say one thing but mean just the opposite. This is almost sarcastic.
